Dargah Nizamuddin or the Famous Sufi Shrine of India - Where Spiritual Healing Begins

Nizamuddin is said to be one of the most famous, respected and revered Sufi shrines in India. Sufism, or Sufism-i-Ilahi, is an Islamic movement broadly following the teachings of Sufis, primarily seeking the spiritual truth as expounded by Muhammad as well as what they have learned from otherwise people. It follows an esoteric path of religious practices, with its roots in Islam. The main aim of this group is spiritual purification and salvation – not through ordinary worship and regular observances – but through a life of ceaseless prayer and meditation. Believers must leave behind the attractions and distractions of everyday life in order to pursue their inner journey for truth. They may choose either a solitary or a communal life (mendicancy).
Nizamuddin Dargah was built in 1325 AD by Amir Khusrau, a poet and scholar, who was also known as Nizam-ud-din Auliya. It stands on an elevated platform that can be accessed through three marble staircases. The shrine has three mausoleums and its architecture is Indo-Islamic with Persian influences.
Nizamuddin Dargah is a very popular sufi shrine in India. It is one of the most visited places in Delhi and an important part of the Muslim community. It is a place where people go to get their wishes fulfilled while they pray. It is a place where pilgrims go to find peace and solace, but also the start of their spiritual journey to Allah.
